“2025 is calling for something a little different, and that looks like a sporty take on ballerina pumps and Mary Janes. With these kinds of looks already emerging from adidas and New Balance, this trend is really going to take off as the year goes on.
I’d say there’s going to be a huge resurgence of the adidas Superstar with loads of new textural takes on the silhouette heading our way. In terms of the 2000s tech space, I think we’ll be looking to ASICS as the leader with the likes of the GEL-NYC and GEL-KAYANO lineage being a popular choice.
Styles to look out for from a female perspective are going to be neutral colours with brown tones and premium fabric executions with pony hair, woven materials and distressed leather. The love for leopard print isn’t going anywhere either, in fact, animal prints, like cow, are having a big moment this year.”

“I expect to see a continuation of Nike 00s silhouettes, there’s so much opportunity in the archive. It’s obviously a huge year for Nike Air Max 95 – will the neon still have the same allure 30 years later or will the big bubble be burst?
With the upcoming release of the T90, I think Nike should bring back OG 00s football campaign shoots. I wanna see Ronaldinho in a barbershop chair reading a newspaper as a kid runs past dribbling a football and he drops the newspaper to reveal his face before he runs out for a kickabout.
It’s clear that Nike are going down a running lifestyle focus leading to the reintroduction of the Sock Dart and Flyknit Racer – we’ve had a Fragment Spiridon, so where’s the Fragment Sock Dart?! 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the Flyknit Racers, making it the perfect storm for Nike to retro the silhouette – a running lifestyle shoe, low profile, plus it came in easy and wearable colourways and still has a sense of nostalgia, in my opinion.
Continuing with Nike and its archive, I think we’ll see an increased focus on hiking footwear and hybrid silhouettes. After continuously flirting with the idea of a new hybrid line (most recently the Air Max Waffle) and with the introduction of the Nike Goadome and Cygnal, I wanna see them jump head first into retro’ing the Nike Air City Camp. Again, I think this is the perfect storm for the shoe. The amount of people wanting to be outdoors is growing exponentially alongside an extreme market focus of 00s nostalgia – it’s crying out for the City Camp. What furthers this need for a reissue is, I feel like people want a shoe that can be worn everywhere and still look good, whether that be mountain or metropolis – the Air City Camp is that shoe.
Finally, a shout out to ASICS – the brand had a great year last year with GEL-KAYANO, GEL-1130 and GEL-NYC – I really wanna see ASICS give back to the collector with a resurgence of the GEL-LYTE III and V Ronnie Fieg days – it’s around the 10 year anniversary of the height of what I guess you could call the ‘sneaker game’ and running off the back of this idea of nostalgia playing its part, I wanna see those collabs with Mita/Collette/atmos/Patta making a reappearance.”

“It’s been building for a couple of years now, but throughout 2025 we’re going to see even more from outdoor and technical-led footwear from GORE-TEX shoes to hiking boots. Look out for brands like Salomon and HOKA. Colourwise, it’s back to basics for him with all-black executions.
2025 is the year of a full Nike comeback, starting with the Air Max 95 – marking its 30th anniversary. Expect exciting new colourways and some you already know.”

“A 2025 staple is going to be the adidas Superstar, black with white stripes, I think this will become a go-to for many of us throughout the year. Continuing down the adidas path, the brand is taking us even lower with our profiles this year with the Japan and Tokyo being standout silhouettes. We’ll also see the low profile trend get more progressive with the likes of the PUMA Mostro gaining in popularity after its comeback last year.
Retro running is going to stay at the top of our wishlists, the point of difference this year will be noughties-inspired colourways of silver and brights.”

“This year is going to be a big one for Nike with the return of the Max. The chunky, technical silhouettes we swapped out for low profile will be on the rise again, specifically, the Air Max 95.
For high-fashion takes and runway-inspired outfit pairings, I think we will be seeing a lot of PUMA Speedcats and Mostro out on the street. With the introduction of new colourways of the Speedcat at the back end of 2024, we’re going to be seeing a lot more coming through playing into the bold and bright colour trends that will dominate in 2025.”

“I’m expecting to see further design developments on the retro running style that has been popular over the last few seasons with new models and technical details coming through. ASICS will be one to watch, already making moves with popular technical models, like the curation collection by Kiko Kostadinoc Studio in fashion-focused colourways, along with the GEL-KAYANO 20 and the GT-2160.
Off the back of the ‘Quiet Luxury’ trend, I think we’ll see people opting for fewer logos and choosing more simpler, timeless footwear. Retro court models fit this aesthetic perfectly with staple models like the Nike Killshot and Gato, New Balance T500 and the adidas Gazelle Indoor. In line with this prediction, I think gum midsoles will continue their hold and remain key for 2025 retro sports looks.
Silver/metallic finishes have been seen across high fashion sneakers – notably in the adidas x Wales Bonner collaborations. I see other brands joining this trend, especially after the metallic Samba and SL 72 have proven so popular.”
