Is the New Balance 550 back? Those who have been engaged in this hobby for more than a couple years remember when the lifestyle model was inescapable on sidewalks everywhere, slowly becoming replaced and perhaps surpassed by the likes of the New Balance 1906R and New Balance 9060. While it may no longer be at the center of the footwear universe any longer, the Boston brand may just be plotting a comeback effort as new colorways continue to trickle in.

This marks the fifth colorway to come about since the start of the year, dwarfing the goose egg that appeared between October and the end of 2024. To be transparent, a similar deluge of looks graced the ‘net just weeks prior to that date, nothing more than a range of easily accessible colorways for one of the brand’s more tried-and-true styles. However, this shoe and that 2024 spree projected a vote of confidence in the New Balance 550, and with this mix of neutral creams, whites and greys alongside more resplendent touches in burgundy, red and tan, it’s hard to argue with the logic.
The New Balance 550 releases in time for Spring 2025, retailing at $110 upon arrival. Peruse official images below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates landing page close by to be the first to know when this shoe is available.
