The leading ladies of 1923 Season 2 gathered in Los Angeles on Wednesday for the show’s premiere, and while their characters may be navigating the wild frontier, their red carpet choices covered a broad spectrum—from subtle nods to the show’s Western roots to full-blown modern glamour.

You all know I love a thematic fashion moment, and Michelle Randolph delivered just that in a Maison Margiela Spring 2008 horse-print strapless dress. Since 1923 is a Yellowstone prequel, this felt like a subtle, clever nod to the show’s equestrian-heavy storyline. The best part? The horse print is so understated that you really have to look closely to notice it. It’s a playful touch without veering into costume territory.
Now, had she gone for something like Stella McCartney’s infamous wild horses print dresses from Chloé’s Spring 2001 collection, we’d probably all be collectively rolling our eyes. But this? This is how you do a theme with elegance.
Old Hollywood meets Old Money?
Julia Schlaepfer took a completely different approach, opting for full-on glamour in an ombre blue sequin strapless gown from Ralph Lauren Collection Spring 2025. Whether she was drawing inspiration from the 1920s—a decade that plays into 1923’s era—or the aristocratic nature of her character, the gown definitely made a shimmering statement.  So much so, that she didn’t need a more era-specific hairstyle to seal the deal.
A little edge, a little sparkle
Jennifer Carpenter kept things modern yet striking in a McQueen twist-front white dress, complete with cut-outs and crystal embellishments. The mix of structure and shimmer gave the look a nice balance of sharpness and femininity. It didn’t necessarily scream 1923, but it certainly had a red carpet-worthy impact.
Simply stunning
Aminah Nieves also leaned into a sultry aesthetic, wearing a plunging black dress that radiated effortless confidence. While her look was more minimalist compared to her co-stars, it stood out for its clean lines and undeniable elegance.
At the end of the night, it was Michelle and Aminah’s looks that truly stood out for me—one for its subtle storytelling, the other for its pure sophistication.
