Gwendoline Christie gave an interview back in 2022 about working with Colleen Atwood on the costumes for Wednesday, in which she said, “She always made me feel celebrated. She made me feel that my body was beautiful — that I was beautiful, that I wear clothes well, and that my ideas were welcome and relevant.” Gwendoline Christie IS beautiful. She does wear clothes well. And while I haven’t heard her ideas, I have no doubt they were relevant. I wish Colleen Atwood would phone up whoever is doing Gwen’s red-carpet style and remind them what a diamond she is. Christie’s face is so stunning — she reminds me of Faye Dunaway here a little bit — and she’s got this incredible physique, and what did they put her in? Some messy, messy mess. Points to her for being warm, I guess, but I went shopping for her at Tony Ward just now and picked this out, and I feel good about it. I also swung by Valentino for this huge pink pleated cape situation that is INSANE, but wouldn’t Gwendoline be the person you’d want to try it out? It’s shapeless, but it’s got a point of view. This is backward-looking but the fabric is cool, and it’s probably also warm. If she still wants black, how about this archival Andrew Gn? (Although obviously I wish she’d tee up this riotously colorful one first.) All that was from a very lazy and cursory search, and obviously does not take into account Gwen Christie’s own tastes. But if this woman does not feel CONSTANTLY celebrated, and beautiful, then we have a problem, and surely this total blank of a black outfit can’t be helping. Justice for Gwen! Zhuzh her! Wait, would that be… zhustice? Zhust kidding.
