Celebrities at the Academy Awards Nominees Dinner

With the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon canceled, Tuesday night’s Nominees Dinner stepped in as its more intimate replacement.

A tale of two seasons

Monica Barbaro’s Victoria Beckham Resort 2025 dress felt like a seasonal mash-up in the best way, with a brown top and a mint green skirt giving us both autumnal warmth and springtime freshness. She looked stunning, no doubt, but I have to admit—I preferred the purple version from the lookbook. Something about that deeper contrast felt richer. Also, the white shoes? Not my first pick, but considering the dark to light transition, a darker shoe wouldn’t have worked either. A tricky colour balance, but overall, she pulled it off.

Terracotta tones and effortless tailoring—it must be Zegna

The second I saw this terracotta hue, I knew it was Zegna. And what an elegant moment it was for Sebastian Stan. However, I can already hear the divided opinions on the light blue stripe shirt. Personally, I love it. Some might have preferred a tonal approach, but this contrast keeps things interesting.

Coffee-coloured elegance

Zoe Saldana went for effortless sophistication in a coffee brown silk satin dress from Saint Laurent. The long sleeves, the fluid drape, the sleekness—it’s all very “quiet luxury” in motion. Styled with the brand’s La Scandale wedges, this is the kind of refined minimalism that always works for her.

All Black Everything

Colman Domingo made an unexpected move—he went understated. Yes, the man who’s been keeping us on our toes all awards season with bold colours and intricate textures decided to give us an all-black, lightly accessorized look. And honestly? He deserved a night to take his foot off the gas (and off our necks). Sometimes, simplicity makes the strongest statement.

Simple, yet striking

Fernanda Torres also leaned into simplicity with a draped black dress from The Row, accessorised with Ara Vartanian jewels. It’s the kind of effortless elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but still commands it. Chic, refined, and totally in line with her aesthetic.

Menswear with a twist

Isabella Rossellini has been a Dolce & Gabbana devotee all season, and this time, she took it a step further—actual menswear. The polka dot smoking coat and matching tie? A bold choice. But had the jacket been belted, and paired with a maxi skirt instead of trousers, I would’ve been so on board.

And there you have it—a night of fashion that ranged from the refreshingly simple to the subtly daring. Which looks did you love, and which ones left you wanting more?
