Day two of Paris Fashion Week Fall 2025 served up none other than Alaïa making a grand and spectacular return to the official PFW schedule. Alaïa creative director Pieter Mulier decamped to New York last season but is back showcasing within the City of Light to present the Alaïa Fall 2025 collection. Mulier, who has been at the helm of the Paris-based fashion house since 2021, welcomed guests (including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Amina Muaddi) inside the Alaïa atelier. Sculptures by the Dutch artist Mark Manders were arranged throughout the space. To a soundtrack by Egyptian operatic soprano Fatima Said and the words of famed poet Khalil Gibran, models emerged from backstage in an array of artful and otherworldly designs.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“50% quite good + 50% insanely bad. As if there were two creative directors…” [TomBlanksFullFatMiuMiu]
“Is Alaïa in the room in with us?” [AnaD]
“I need time. And a double vodka.” [Delleone]
“Since the New York show, I find myself liking his work less and less. There are some interesting things but I hate how he takes very simple, almost basic clothes and adds a ridiculous gimmick just to make it fashion.” [Avonlea]
“Well it’s certainly a feat to make Alaïa look this belaboured and unflattering. No sex to be found, no joy, no charm—just Teletubby lifejacket couture.” [fruitdots]
“Hmm I can’t with Pieter Mulier. It’s never about the women or the body. It’s just a design project. Azzedine Alaïa was a master of proportion and here we have this.” [Lola701]
“After seeing the first five looks, all I could think of were condoms and swim doughnuts. I wasn’t able to process anything that came after.” [Kennnnn]
“The way he tries SO hard, so much effort but the end results makes you feel little. There is no emotion, no life. He takes on some of the aesthetics of minimalist designers but removes all the ease and effortlessness. These women look so restricted and it’s painful to watch.” [Grets]
