Millie Bobby Brown Went Full Gwyneth at a Premiere

On the left, we have Gwyneth Paltrow in a sheer Armani at the Shakespeare In Love premiere in 1998, and on the right, Millie Bobby Brown the other day. I’ve seen it written that this is the same dress, and — from the more cautious People — that we don’t actually know for sure whether it is or not. Gwyneth commented on MBB’s Instagram that Millie wore it better, and Millie responded that she was thrilled to get to wear it, but we still don’t know for sure. The top of Millie’s seems a bit more lined, maybe? And Gwynnie’s has some horizontal lines around the groin… and of course, a pashmina, the hallmark of the late 90s. Millie DID update that part of it, for sure. Original or no, the homage is clear. It’s quite the compliment to Gwyneth; MBB was born six whole years after this made its appearance, so I suppose her even knowing or caring about it is a testament to the endurance of Gwynnie’s old-school aesthetic. I’m not THAT in love with it on either of them, but hey, there are worse dresses to dupe.

But I’d trade it for this:

The ruby-red sparkler, I mean, although I’d take Stanley Tucci, too. Just so that he can make me a nightly cocktail and some elaborate pastas.
