Natalie Portman Is Getting Her Prestige TV Moment Soon

Natalie is producing and starring in an adaptation of Laura Lippman’s Lady in the Lake, alongside Moses Ingram here, whom you might recognize from The Queen’s Gambit or Obi-Wan Kenobi. She was great in both, although I must caveat that with the fact that I only watched two episodes of Obi-Wan because we just sort of accidentally forgot to keep going. We long ago reached Too Much Star Wars For Me, and I’m someone who really enjoys the movies, so it means I haven’t even watched the lauded Andor or even my beloved Manny “Jason Mendoza” Jacinto being a badass in The Acolyte. I know, I know. I just feel like we can’t take a breath without another Star Wars thing coming around the corner.

Now that the preamble is out of the way, I like that Moses and Natalie somehow landed on outfits that connect lightly without matching: Natalie’s evokes a chaotic blossoming plant, and the pink picks up the one in Moses’s actual floral pattern. Natalie’s has a couple intentional bare patches that draw my eye in a vague negative way, so if I had to pick one, I’d hand the win to Moses; her gown just looks so luxe and lush and super. And it makes me hope for an awards run and/or several premieres, so we can see what else she might pick out. Maybe she’ll amass a whole collection of outfits that would be perfect luxury wallpaper for my imaginary future gigantic walk-in closet.
