Donatella Versace still holds Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott in high regard. After all, the photographic duo were called upon to capture their ninth consecutive mainline Versace advertising campaign for the Fall 2024 season. Now, unsurprisingly, M&M were commissioned to capture the second installment of the Versace Icons campaign. In April, Anne Hathaway and Cillian Murphy became the faces of the capsule collection and it’s a repeat performance from the two Hollywood talents with the second Versace Icons offering. There’s no change in concept this season, with the pair posing for M&M throughout the minimalist campaign installment, set against classic and clean, grey and white backdrops.
Anne Hathaway & Cillian Murphy for the Versace Icons Campaign:
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“When you party all night and stay up for your photo shoot at 9AM,” cried out GivenchyHomme.
“I love Cillian and Anne but what the hell is this? Terrible styling,” svpernova shreiked.
“Something about Anne’s expression. This whole thing feels flat. Goes to show that most celebs do not know what to do if they are not given direction,” noted forum member jeremydante.
Sharing the same sentiments was woemwoem. “Anne Hathway has never looked good in a fashion photo. Her features just don’t work well for the medium. Just as some models who look great in photos look meh on film,” they shared.
Not everyone was left so dissatisfied. “I actually love the hair and makeup. It’s definitely a Versace element,” reasoned GoldenPetals.
“I am far more on board with this, as opposed to the Fall 2024 campaign, which was a complete flop. This feels far more Versace in comparison. Very reminiscent of the Richard Avedon campaigns but I’m not complaining. That shot of Anne Hathaway in the chainmail dress is heavenly!” voiced vogue28.
