InStyle hosted its debut Imagemaker Awards, celebrating the creative visionaries shaping the fashion and beauty landscape in Hollywood and beyond. The event spotlighted the most influential stylists, makeup artists, and hair professionals who have created some of today’s most unforgettable looks in film, TV, music, sports, and more.
Each honouree was introduced by a celebrity client, underscoring their pivotal role in crafting iconic moments. Honourees and presenters included Lana Del Rey, Colman Domingo, Kristen Stewart, Chrissy Teigen, and Olivia Munn.
Ruffles and Romance
Lana Del Rey presented an award to Molly Dickson who has correctly identified that Alessandro Michele’s Valentino Resort 2025 collection would be a perfect fit for the singer.
Paired with a faux fur stole that elevated her dreamy, cinematic aesthetic, I think Alessandro Michele’s has found his new muse.
Signature Stewart
Kristen Stewart, who presented to her stylist, Tara Swennen, was embodying her predictable-yet-perfect aesthetic in a Chanel Resort 2025 checked suit with her classic bralette style, blending Chanel’s sophistication with a dash of grunge. While some might crave more variety, others will say this is quintessential Kristen.
I have to say that Tara blew me away in her red velvet strapless Raisa Vanessa gown.
Vintage Vibes Only
Camila Cabello honoured her stylist Katie Qian, who also works with Tyla and Conan Grey. The singer wore an Elie Saab Spring 2004 Haute Couture pink floral dress with the fabric imbuing a vintage feel, which was amplified by the Mongolian fur stole.
Dream Team
Nicholas Alexander Chavez and his stylist Warren Alfie Baker made Brioni their brand of choice, with Nicholas donning a light cream suit and teal shirt. Warren, meanwhile, honoured his British seasonal roots in a dark brown suit—two looks, each with undeniable polish.
Warren also styles Matt Bomer, Regé-Jean Page, Drew Starkey, Andrew Garfield, Andrew Scott, and Glen Powell, to name a few.
Velvet Luxe
Chrissy Teigen stunned in a Tom Ford Fall 2024 velvet gown with sheer insets while presenting her colourist Matt Rez’s award. The dress’ halter silhouette and rich texture proved that Chrissy can balance sultry with sophistication.
Cool and Collected
Known for his unique style, Colman Domingo wore panelled and studded denim trousers with a patterned coat by Luar. His look felt relaxed yet distinctively his own, a hallmark of Colman’s refreshingly eclectic taste. The actor was on hand to present an award to his makeup artist Jamie Richmond.
Pleated Drama
Ali Wong’s dress gave off a billowing effect even when still, thanks to the pleated fabric. Presenting to her makeup artist Mai Quynh, Ali reminded us that she’s always ready to serve up something unexpected.
Houndstooth Heroine
Channelling drama and elegance, Laverne Cox wore a Fall 2009 houndstooth suit by Alexander McQueen, giving a striking nod to a late designer who we hold dear to our hearts. It’s rare to see someone embody fashion as a narrative, but Laverne does it with every look.
Lace Legacy
Lucy Hale’s lace Pierre Balmain by Oscar de la Renta Fall 1993 Haute Couture was tailored to perfection. Sourced from Nina Gabbana Vintage, the dress’ semi-exposed boning and intricate lace proved that there are some pieces that will tand the test of time. The thing with vintage dresses is that the fit is not a given, even if it’s in your true size, so I have to commend the tailoring of this look, as it appears made for her.
Bold in Blue
Ryan Destiny wore one of the most intriguing looks of the night in this Issey Miyake Fall 2024 blue dress which draped beautifully.
A Bit Bland in Bronze
Victoria Justice’s Bronx And Banco dress felt somewhat uninspired. Even the gold metallic detail struggled to elevate this.
A Power in Emerald
Receiving her Woman of Impact Award from husband John Mulaney, Olivia Munn looked poised in green—a symbol of hope and resilience following her 2023 breast cancer diagnosis. The matching green attire felt like a united front, amplifying the importance of her advocacy work.
