The kids’ fashion trade season is over with a last stop in Playtime & Kid’s Hub New York, so let’s take a look at what’s in store for us next winter.
In collaboration with Playtime & Kid’s Hub NY, we invited the coolest kids of New York to showcase Junior Style editor picks at the show.
Traditionally, we see bright colors in summer collections, but that’s changing. One of the trends that caught our attention at Junior Style is that next winter will be full of colors and flashy textures! As announced by the fashion forecast agency Fashion Snoops, “Erupt” is one of the major trends for FW24/25.
“In a mercurial world that teeters between life-changing revelations and apocalyptic repercussions, we maintain an optimistic but ready-for-anything mentality. On the other hand, “Cocoon” envelops us in warmth, adding the coziness that we crave in our wardrobes and homes. Soft pastels play in materials that are heartwarming and gentle. In Cocoon, we enter a sensorial realm where the power of perception is wholeheartedly experienced, be it seen, heard, smelled, touched, tasted, or felt. An evolving understanding of neurodiversity is at the heart of this story, as we take into consideration the future of inclusive and adaptive design and how it is interconnectedly experienced from the sensation of material on the skin to the psychology behind hues that calm and soothe. As we approach children’s mental and physical well-being with a reinvigorated and multifaceted awareness, Cocoon addresses how to design mindfully and purposefully to ensure optimal experiences for all children. “Cocoon” and “Erupt” are a perfect example of dichotomy – two contradictory things, complete opposites. These opposing forces are at play within all of us, as the current global stage, the world around us, our very cores have been pulled in every direction in the past few years. But the good news is, you don’t need to choose between them. You can play around with these trends and even combine them in the same look. Let’s not forget that the most important trend is to be yourself! Outfits are only the instruments to express your style and each child’s unique personality.
Children are very certain about what they like and what they don’t and I am sure each of them will find favorite pieces next season! Our job is to guide them and offer the best of the market. I believe that aesthetic education is important, especially nowadays. Our appearance, and clothes in particular, are a big part of our everyday life, and they can inspire us for big things as well as let us down. I think it is very important to develop children’s creativity, imagination, and associative thinking. Surrounding them with beautiful illustrations in books, museum visits, travels, inspirational toys, and gorgeous outfits showcased at Playtime trade shows are great tools. Together, everyone who is involved in the kids’ fashion and lifestyle industry, is working for the well-being and happiness of our children.
Other trends that continue to win the hearts of little fashionistas are tailored suits, fun knits, and denim.
