Kaia Gerber made a surprising style detour at The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen 2024 party, held at Holloway House in West Hollywood, California, on Wednesday.
Sharing the spotlight with fellow honouree Ryan Destiny, Kaia’s look marked a refreshing departure from the long, streamlined gowns we’ve come to expect from her—and usually courtesy of Celine.
Instead, the model opted for a mini dress that introduced her to the heavily embellished aesthetic of Alessandro Michele. The Valentino Resort 2025 dress felt playful and youthful, offering an entirely different vibe from her typically minimalist red carpet appearances. It’s a bold choice, and surprisingly, it worked.
As we saw earlier this week on Elle Fanning, caplets are having a moment, and in Kaia’s case, the caplet added a layer of whimsy that elevated the look. Surprisingly, the addition of socks styled with Valentino Garavani Bowow shoes further emphasized a girlish charm that we don’t often see from Kaia. The accessories might feel unexpected, but they gave the outfit an endearing edge, creating a refreshing balance between high fashion and youthful energy.
This was a standout moment—not necessarily for its grandeur, but for how much it diverged from her usual aesthetic. The silhouette, and even the playful styling all made this look a breath of fresh air for Kaia.
It’s nice to see Kaia step into a lighter, more playful style territory. Do you agree?
