adidas Samba “Wonder Silver” IG6177

If you look at recent releases in a vacuum, it’s hard to believe the adidas Samba was designed as an indoor soccer shoe. It still holds that utility, but adidas and its collaborators have completely re-defined the Samba’s identity and how sneakerheads perceive it. Pairs by Wales Bonner, KITH, and most recently jjjjound all embrace fashion-forward, premium design, and that same ethos has bled over to the shoe’s mainline selection.

Showcased here in “Wonder Silver”, the next Samba achieves an elevated appearance with a liberal use of suede at the base. White hits on the Three Stripes and heel maintain a soft look, while light gum soles complete a non-imposing design underfoot. While maybe a bit of a stretch, sneakerheads who missed out on the Ronnie Fieg x Clarks x adidas Samba collection last year might find a compsomise in this pair given the similarly colored sole. In any case, it’s an agreeable contemporary design that holds its own without collaborator influence.
