Andra Day attended the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Exhibiting Forgiveness’ at Gagosian in Beverly Hills, where the singer-actress stepped out in a bold Sebastian Gunawan ensemble, and my initial reaction was one of excitement.
From the back, the vibrant pink and green colourway instantly reminded me of the recent look on Bel Powley, promising an eye-catching moment.
However, that initial thrill was quickly dampened when I saw the front view as the leather opera gloves completely derailed what could have been a stellar appearance.
The pink crop top, while sitting somewhat awkwardly, still had potential. Its hue and silhouette added an element of intrigue, and the teal blue and green layered skirt, embellished with intricate details, also hinted at the bold fashion statement Andra might have been aiming for.
Yet, those leather gloves—heavy and out of place—felt like an unwelcome distraction. They seemed to weigh down the look, overshadowing the vibrant, carefully chosen colours and textures of the outfit. Instead of complementing the ensemble, the gloves detracted from the overall impact.
It’s moments like these that make me wish this particular trend would just fade away.
