Andre 3000 made a special appearance at the 2024 CFDA Awards to present Erykah Badu with the Fashion Icon Award.
For the appearance, the iconic musician chose a pair of the Air Jordan 3 “OG” Black Cement sneakers, which have become a signature part of streetwear over the past decade or so. A shoe that blends together style with comfort, the shoes are defined by its signature cement print in the upper. Due out for a release towards the end of November, the asking price on this latest iteration is $220.
For the rest of his outfit, the former Outkast rapper opted for a camouflage jumpsuit with a silver jacket paired overtop, and used a traffic cone as an accessory.
Air Jordan’s have an extensive history that dates back to the original Air Jordan 1 designed in 1985 by Peter Moore.
As for Badu, she sported a pair of patent leather pointed-toe Thom Browne pumps that featured a triangular design in the upper and a closed-back design. The shoes sat atop a stiletto heel estimated between 3-to-4 inches in height. The pumps were a compliment to her eclectic all-black outfit, which featured a sportcoat, cardigan and trousers also courtesy of Thom Browne, and a beaded headpiece that accompanied her septum jewelry.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America celebrated the winners and honorees of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards at an intimate ceremony at The Museum of Natural History in New York City on Oct. 28. The awards will be presided over by CFDA chairman Thom Browne and CEO Steven Kolb, and will be hosted by Cynthia Erivo.
This year’s Fashion Icon Award will go to Erykah Badu and the presenters list includes names like Andre3000, Anna Wintour, Amy Griffin, Blake Lively, Brandon Maxwell, Charles Melton, Da’Vine Joy, Randolph, Donna Karan, Jenny Freshwater, Marc Jacobs, Molly Gordon, Molly Ringwald, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and more.
