It doesn’t take much to suss out that metallics are the “default” look for any tech runner style. It certainly rings true for the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14, priding itself on chromed-out details long before its current resurgence. As we get closer to the opening ceremony in Paris, the silhouette is trading in for a different kind of reflective via the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Olympic Medals.”
Perhaps paradoxically, gold gets the slightest application on this shoe, only gracing the tongue branding and tinting the midsole GEL units. Silver is next up, centering the design on quarter and eyestay panels, while bronze closes out at the heel and forefoot. Though championship pedigree is the clear focus, there’s also no shortage of vintage accenting on this profile, with the midsole, sockliner and laces all going that off-white direction.
The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Olympic Medals” is coming soon to ASICS channels, likely debuting for Summer/Fall ’24. A retail price of $150 is confirmed.
Jumping across the industry, a cult classic returns for the Swoosh this month by way of the Nike Air Foamposite “Light Orewood Brown.”
