ASICS was unquestionably one of the big winners of 2024, regaining the foothold in the casual market that had eluded them in previous years. That revival was in no smart due to the GEL-Kayano 14, finding itself at the center of tech runner trends without so much as moving a muscle, as the Y2K design language it proudly wore during its original run unexpectedly became in vogue. Will the model march on as a face of the Japanese brand in 2025 or will another silhouette takes its place?
For our money, as long as ASICS continues hitting doubles with general release GEL-Kayano 14 colorways, it’s got a strong chance to roll on as a power player. Combing earthy tones of “Truffle Grey” and “Oatmeal,” the model’s structural simplisticity on the medial side works to its advantage, presenting a sprightly outer edge and a more refined inner side. As we’ve certainly said before and we’ll certainly say again, the Winter may not be prime season for mesh runners, but this seasonal look makes a strong case for us to break convention.
As mentioned throughout this piece, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Truffle Grey” is available now via ASICS.com ($150.) Hit the shopping links under “Where To Buy” to grab your pair.
