Romeo Beckham is getting into one of the family businesses. While his mother, Victoria Beckham, is a noted fashion designer and his father, David Beckham also has done fashion collaborations and both were style stars for years, Romeo is starting his journey in the fashion industry as a model.
The young Beckham has already done a few projects, the star made his runway debut in the Balenciaga spring 2025 presentation wearing the brand’s new oversized shoe: the Basketball sneaker.
Simply titled “The Basketball Sneaker,” the shoe is a sculpted style that was presented on multiple models during the show. Romeo’s version was silver with black panels. Other iterations were all red, all white and all black, often with reflective effects. Balenciaga sneaker designer Qianbeini posted a series of images featuring the style on Instagram. Qianbeini had previously posted the viral Balenciaga Reptile sneaker on the social platform earlier this year.
The Balenciaga Basketball sneaker is, like the name suggests, a basketball-inspired sneaker that takes design cues from styles like the Nike Foamposite. Another predecessor is the Nike Air Zoom Flight Glove. The Balenciaga shoe features a zip-closure in place of laces, with the zipper being hidden by a flap. It sports the number 44 on the front and back as well as logos throughout. As typical with Balenciaga shoe design, it also is a puffed up shoe, with an exaggerated silhouette.
The Balenciaga Basketball sneaker from the brand’s spring 2025 collection will be available for pre-order tomorrow.
Romeo was styled in the sneakers for the runway show. In addition he wore a pair of sunglasses that wrapped all the way around his head, low-cut baggy jeans and a cropped polo. The effect nodded to prevailing trends in the early 2000s. Designer Demna said that the collection was a tribute to fashion that has a point of view and some of the first pieces he ever designed.
Romeo isn’t the only celebrity offspring at fashion week this month. Madonna’s son David Banda and Solange’s son Julez Smith, walked the Off-White show in New York. There, the pair wore thong sandals. And, of course, Romeo Beckham isn’t the first Beckham son dabbling in fashion as his brother Brooklyn has in the apst as well.
