Hailey Welch Sued: Class Action Lawsuit Sparks Fallout Over $HAWK Memecoin Scandal

Following DMARGE’s earlier coverage of the $HAWK memecoin controversy, in which investors alleged they were victims of a pump-and-dump scheme, ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ finally broke her silence.

Welch shot to fame before moving into influencer sponsorships and has now addressed her involvement with $HAWK crypto amid growing legal scrutiny and now a class action lawsuit.

In a statement shared with DMARGE by Welch’s PR team, it was clarified that her role in the memecoin project was limited to a paid sponsorship.

Welch reportedly received a one-time fee in exchange for lending her persona to $HAWK’s promotional campaign. However, she played no part in the coin’s development or strategy, relying instead on the company’s guidance—a move she now regrets.

As previously reported by DMARGE, the $HAWK crypto was promoted heavily before its value plummeted to $0.00003497 per token (at the time of publishing), leaving investors in financial ruin and sparking allegations of fraudulent activity. Total losses are estimated at half a billion US dollars. Ouch!

Welch, whose involvement was more symbolic than commercial, is now embroiled in the bloody aftermath of the shitcoin fiasco.

Her team claims she was “completely siloed” from the crypto project and had no control over its launch, but she acknowledges the gravity of the situation and the harm caused to foolish investors.

The alleged Telegram chat for $HAWK leaked.

She’s now working alongside ‘ambulance chasers ‘Unparalleled experts in blockchain & emerging

Burwick Law to assist affected investors. The firm has launched a campaign inviting those who suffered losses to come forward. The litigation has all the hallmarks of classic ambulance-chasing behaviour.

Despite the controversy, Welch’s team highlighted her ongoing success outside of the memecoin world, pointing to the rapid rise of her podcast Talk Tuah, which secured a Top 5 spot on Spotify shortly after its launch. The statement from her representatives emphasised that while Welch’s unexpected entry into the spotlight has been met with challenges, she remains focused on her ‘career’ and clearing her name.

We think there’s a comeback on the cards.

This follows DMARGE’s initial reporting, which detailed investor outrage and growing legal pressure surrounding the $HAWK sh*t show. Welch’s involvement has sparked a heated debate about the responsibility of influencers in cryptocurrency.

As the class action lawsuit progresses, all eyes will be on Welch and the crypto bros behind $HAWK to determine the extent of accountability in one of the latest high-profile crypto scandals.
