One fun thing my girls and I like to do to spend more time together is get our nails done. With spooky season in full effect, we figured we’d sort through some of our favorite Halloween nail ideas to share for inspiration this fall! We’re getting into the Halloween spirit and booking a Halloween mani! If you’re someone who typically likes to stay neutral for nails, this is the perfect time to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new with your nail tech. Accent nails can be a way to ease into spooky nails while remaining fairly neutral. For those ready to jump into Halloween vibes, these are our favorite Halloween nail art designs and colors we are loving for Halloween season!
Black Base
Firstly, we’re going to begin with some more basic options for those that don’t want to venture out to designs. There’s nothing wrong with keeping a blank base and just trying out new colors! In fact, that’s probably what I’ll do while my girls test out the fun designs to surround their Halloween costume ideas. Black polish as the base color can work for all of these designs. But you can keep it a matte black or glossy black mani for the perfect way to rock your nails the entire month.
Orange Base
We all know orange is the primary color for Halloween! This color provides a pop of a brighter color for the season and reminds me of pumpkins. With so many different tones to choose from, you can even start out bright and go more towards a pastel-like orange as we get closer to Thanksgiving. Add a clear base coat and you are fully on trend for the season!
White Base
For those that don’t want to stray too far from beloved neutrals, I say go for clean white! It looks neat while being something other than a pale pink. I always get a lot of compliments with white nails, too!
Candy Corn
Now for some fun! Candy Corn are the signature candy of the season. This incorporates both the orange and white colors and are fairly easy for nail techs to paint. While it’s more of an out there design, they are really fun to have!
Black Cats
Black cats are like the mascot of Halloween. I think a white or pale pink base coat with a midnight black color is really cute. Black cat nail art can be just the face or the silhouette of the cat, it’s totally up to you! But it’s one of the coolest ways to step up your nail game this season. Green eyes on the cat are also essential.
Hocus Pocus
For Hocus Pocus themed nails, I think simply a black witch hat works well! Try doing this as an accent nail on the middle nails and keeping the outer nails as negative space with just a base coat.
Ghosts
Little ghosts are so cute on nails! This is also a great design if you just want an accent nail. But I think it could be fun to have teeny little ghosts floating on all nails. They’re the star of the show and a prime celestial manicure option.

Deep Purple
A dark purple is a great transitional nail color for the cooler seasons. Go for glossy or purple matte nails for spooky szn. It’s approaching my favorite time of the year and what better time than now to switch out the pastels for a darker color?!
Black Siderwebs
I’m not a spider fan, but these are really cute if I must say. This is another option where you can stick with a neutral background and do an adorable design either on all your nails or just accent ones.
Vampire Red
Another fantastic transitional color is a deep red. Kinda like a maroon! Or shall I say, Vampire blood red? Keep it simple with the solid maroon or use it as a base color for some vampire fangs.
Full Moon
What is cuter than a teeny crescent moon for the best Halloween nail designs?! It’s a fun little addition to your manicure and not a crazy design to try out if you are newer to nail art.
Coffin Nails
When I say coffin nails, I’m referring to the shape of them! It’s a step not too far from almond but a longer option for the girls wanting to try longer nails. They square out at the top and make your nails look really pretty and long.
Pumpkins
Pumpkin nail art is a must! Use any base color you want and start going for pumpkins on the nails. You can do Jack-O-Lanterns with faces or a simple pumpkin design to rock this Halloween season.
Classic French Tip with a Twist
Finally, we all love a good French Manicure. But it’s spooky season, so we need to add a twist! Try out an orange or black shade as the color of the French portion for a little change in your nail design comfort zone and a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit.
