Vicky Krieps is starring in The Dead Don’t Hurt, along with Viggo Mortensen, who also directed it and wrote it and wrote the score for it. Google tells me “When the man she loves, Holger Olsen, goes off to fight in the Civil War, Vivienne Le Coudy must fend for herself in a place controlled by a corrupt mayor and his unscrupulous business partner. When Olsen returns from the war, he and Vivienne must confront and make peace with the person each has become.” I do have some notes for Viggo about his character names, but it’s getting pretty good reviews, AND I welcome anything that puts Vicky Krieps out on the press tour because she never looks boring.
Both of these looks say, “I’m really into socks and hosiery right now” and they have such an singular and interesting point of view. You see this person walking down the street and you get her. She probably owns a very cool little shop that sells artisanal bread, beer made from bananas (this is a real thing), $20 wooden spoons, and Push-Up Pops and she’s VERY nice every time you see her but also you know she only watches Dutch documentaries and judges you for all the Bravo you consume.
