Isabelle Huppert’s Balenciaga looks at the Venice Film Festival were polarising, to say the least. While her leopard print gown for ‘The Room Next Door’ premiere and her photocall outfit had their moments, not every ensemble hit the mark. However, at the ‘Yeohaengjaui Pilyo’ premiere during the San Sebastian Film Festival on Monday,  the French actress redeemed herself in a Balenciaga suit that nailed effortless chic.
This time, Isabelle embraced the oversized, trend-driven fit, giving off the nonchalant coolness we expect from her. The relaxed tailoring provided an androgynous edge, but it was the glamour of the shimmering bugle beads that elevated this look to something truly special. Add in Chopard jewels, and you’ve got a combination that feels elegant yet still very much on-brand for Isabelle’s signature Parisian style.
This outfit captured everything that makes Isabelle a fashion icon—the ability to merge high-fashion with an air of nonchalance. She didn’t need bold colours or dramatic silhouettes to stand out; she let the suit speak for itself, leaning into her natural coolness.
In my opinion, this is Isabelle at her best—understated yet glamorous, confident yet casual. The perfect example of how Balenciaga can still be elevated when styled with subtlety and grace.
