Since linking for the first time in 2022, Jae Tips x Saucony has established itself as one of the most formidable collaborative relationships in the sneaker industry. All of the Bronx artist’s shoes have been instant sell-outs, with demand and consumer interest levels coinciding with the partnership’s applaudable evolution. As successful collaborators often do, Jae Tips will soon play a role in reviving a long-forgotten model from Saucony’s archives.
The Jae Tips Saucony Matrix, which was first teased by the man himself in June, is poised to debut at ComplexCon 2024. The Matrix is a 1990s trail runner designed by Brian Moore, now chief of product at Saucony, and hasn’t hit shelves at all since 2000. Given the playful, nostalgia-evoking nature of Jae Tips x Saucony releases date, including a shoe-of-the-year candidate in their ProGrid Omni 9 “To Do List,” a joint decision to bring back the Matrix is more than sensible.
Jae Tips has two Matrix colorways on tap; one in cotton candy-esque blue and pink and another in burgundy/brown/violet. The model itself champions 1990s aesthetics through a silver quarter logo and multi-layered suede upper, with bright colors only amplifying a clear retro feel. Additional details include chrome piping across the upper, a unique geometric quarter logo pattern, “Savior” text on the lateral heel, and Jae Tips’ colorful flower logo on the heel.
As mentioned, the Jae Tips x Saucony Matrix will debut at ComplexCon 2024 happening 11/16-11/17 in Las Vegas. Information regarding a wider release hasn’t been mentioned at the time of this writing, so return periodically to our Sneaker Release Dates hub for timely updates.
