Janelle Monáe stepped away from her signature black-and-white palette at the 2025 Grammy Awards, and while I will always appreciate how she has kept that aesthetic varied and fresh over the years, I will never say no to a red carpet shake-up.
This time, she went for a trending menswear-inspired look from AREA, but she was very much in a league of her own. The navy Fall 2024 suit was anything but standard, thanks to the intricate gold and sapphire stone detailing that elevated it from classic tailoring to something unique and full of personality, with the matching hat sealing the deal.
This look may have been inspired by menswear—some might even say military personnel specifically—but keeping it shirtless added a daring, rebellious edge that made it unmistakably Janelle, proving once again that she knows how to balance edge with sex appeal.
She accessorized with Maison H. jewels and a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph with a custom blue leather strap, which added a slick finishing touch.
