Informative Caption tells us “British actor Richard Burton (1925 – 1984) and Liz Taylor (1932 – ) who is presenting the Lyon Maid trophy to Bessie Nightingall wife of trainer of ‘Tacitus’ who won the race.” That isn’t THAT Informative anymore, as it believes La Liz to be alive still — which she is in my heart! — and also it failed to mention that this is at the Sandown Park races. (The first course in England to have a members enclosure, per Wiki. WELL AREN’T YOU FANCY.) Bessie’s husband was named Walter, and his Wiki says he was an impeccable dresser “in public.” The horse does NOT have a Wiki — you’d be surprised — and unfortunately neither does Elizabeth’s hat, which is an ABSOLUTE HOOT that deserves one.
