Marc Jacobs’s shows used to be real MOODS, from the visuals of the collections to the sets; he’s eschewed setting the stage recently, but the clothes are still a spectacle — I think of them as Outfits for Magazine Spreads. The bonkers, blocky, curved-horn shoes bear that out; they got a ton of play in magazine spreads this past several months, albeit including one Marc himself styled for Vogue. He seems to be reaching for that same target demographic — the stylists who work in pictures, rather than premieres — with new versions of that footwear that are now gigantic boots. There are also some with big round balls on the toes, and for some reason, Natasha Lyonne came to mind with those. One New York kid kicking around in the wares of another.
