Following her stylish appearances at the Oscars and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Mindy Kaling has been keeping the momentum going while promoting her new Netflix series, Running Point, alongside co-star Kate Hudson.

The tour kicked off with a look that should instantly ring a bell. Mindy stepped out in a Saint Laurent Fall 2017 velvet one-sleeve mini dress with crystal-embellished open shoulder detailing. If it looks familiar, it’s because Zoe Saldana wore the gown version at the SAG Awards, and before that, Anja Rubik debuted it at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, followed by Alessandra Ambrosio in 2019. It’s a well-traveled piece, but Mindy made it her own, styling it with Santoni pumps and a Roger Vivier bag. The result? A fun and flirty look that felt fresh yet nostalgic.

Unfortunately, things took a turn with the second look. The Sergio Hudson Fall 2024 striped suit? Flawless. The tan leather bustier? Could’ve worked—if the fit was better. The styling choices, however, let the look down. The hairstyle didn’t suit her, and the black cherry lip colour felt out of place. This had all the ingredients for a standout moment, but the execution just wasn’t there.

Thankfully, Mindy ended on a high note. This is the energy I was hoping for—bold, vibrant, and true to her signature style. She rocked a rainbow-hued Harbison Studio Resort 2025 cropped jacket and A-line mini skirt, bringing a playful yet polished vibe to the tour. Opting for a bit more coverage, she layered the set over a red bustier, perfectly tying in her Christian Louboutin metallic red pumps and JW PEI Cloth clutch. This was Mindy at her best—colourful, confident, and totally in her element.
