Following her standout Prada moment earlier in the day for the photocall, Monica Barbaro graced the Rome premiere of A Complete Unknown at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in a Versace Resort 2025 creation. With bright butter yellow known for its mood-boosting properties, this dress should’ve been an instant win—but I’m not entirely sold.
Let’s start with the positives. The floral and crystal embroidery, paired with an impressively undetectable lining, achieved a subtle, see-through illusion compared to the completely sheer version seen in the look book. It’s a testament to the craftsmanship of Versace and Monica’s styling team. Yet, despite the impeccable detailing, the dress was just okay to me. For a house synonymous with jaw-dropping red carpet moments—and an actress who can undoubtedly pull them off—this look didn’t quite deliver the “wow” factor I was hoping for.
Monica styled the dress with a Bvlgari High Jewelry Serpenti necklace in white gold, featuring two pear emeralds and pavé-set diamonds. While stunning on its own and complementing the silver Medusa ’95 hardware on the dress’ shoulders, the overall look felt disjointed.
Monica looked undeniably beautiful (as always), but I’m greedy—I wanted Versace drama, and this fell short.
You may recall that Blake Lively wore a mini red version of this dress during her It Ends With Us press tour.
