After about a month of dormancy, the New Balance 550 is back in our lives. Filling out NB.com with a litany of women’s colorways in recent memory, the Boston brand is going back to basics for the latest, a blend of “Turtledove” and “Magnet.”
With off-white panels on the upper and the two-tone color-blocking that brought the 550 to the top of the industry in the ALD era, it’s abundantly clear that NB is hoping to recapture the magic with this release. The eggshell “Turtledove” tonality almost speaks to that on its own, emphasizing the vintage aesthetics that the former basketball model tackles so well. A meted application of suede on the shoe’s base layer brings just the slightest bit of extra class to this look, but everyday wear is clearly the intention with this New Balance 550 edition.
The New Balance 550 in “Turtledove/Magnet” releases this Holiday season, carrying the typical $120 price point.
