Whether you’re personally dedicated to it or it’s nothing more than a frequent sight on your social media pages, there’s no denying the status of gorpcore in the current fashion world. That’s not limited to apparel, either. In our footwear corner, the sudden street appeal of brands like Merrell or Salomon speaks to its on-foot influence. Nike has very much taken notice of that, and by reviving ACG curios of yesteryear, they’re coming for their piece of the pie.
The Swoosh has already checked off a bring-back of the Nike Rufus, finally granting retros ACG fans requested for so long. The Nike Izy, sharing much of the design language and composition with that shoe, should then be set up for warm reception within that niche. To get specific, the silhouette retains the Rufus’ sole unit and suede foxing, contrasting with it via an increased height, a switch from mocassin hardware to genuine sneaker shape, and a zipper closure down the throat of the shoe.
True to its 1999 origins, the Nike ACG Izy tackles “Baroque Brown” for this look, consistent with the natural tones of previously unveiled editions and what the Rufus has taken on during its new life on the shelves. Speaking of – look for this edition of the Nike ACG Izy this Holiday season with a retail price of $130.
