As low-cut silhouettes like the adidas Samba continue a relaxed takeover of the footwear world, Nike’s strategy is two-fold. While they’ve introduced a handful of new models, they’re leaning on the massive archive of sneakers they’ve got in the catalog, and retooling a few long-time favorites for the new purpose. One such shoe is the Nike Blazer, introducing green suede onto its “77 Vintage” composition.
For the uninitiated, the major switch-up with the “vintage” formulation is lower suede swatches at the forefoot, venturing towards an ever simpler construction on a model not exactly famous for its tech. On this pair specifically, it’s a prudent choice; a two-tone split between off-white and green continues to bear fruit, calling to mind tennis shoes of old that became inescapable lifestyle sneakers. While “Sail” bleeds onto it via the Swoosh and back-tab, the rest of the upper is dominated by long-haired, shaggy suede, doubling down on a relaxed purpose. An exposed foam tongue closes out this design, providing some rare contrast on an otherwise simplistic profile.
The Nike Blazer Low ’77 Vintage “Green/Sail” is expected to release this Fall, retailing for $100. Catch official looks via the gallery embedded below.
Elsewhere, Oregon is preparing for a major debut- the Nike Sabrina 2 “Court Purple” introduces Ionescu’s 2nd signature on June 25th.
