Nike will reportedly extend the signature line of one of its most exciting NBA stars in 2025.
After introducing Ja Morant’s first signature sneaker to retail in 2023 and following up with the Ja 2 in September, Nike will add a third installment to the line next year. Details are currently limited, but Sole Retriever reports that the Nike Ja 3 will debut in a “NY vs. NY” colorway paying homage to the sportswear brand’s annual summer streetball tournament.
Throughout his NBA career, Morant has exclusively worn Nike sneakers. His most-worn shoes during his early years included signature sneakers belonging to Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant before eventually receiving his own Nike Ja 1, which he debuted on court during Christmas Day 2022.
Morant’s Nike deal was put into question in early ’23 when the Memphis Grizzlies star found himself embroiled in controversy after numerous social media posts involving firearms. An eight-game suspension from the NBA in March caused Nike to push back the release of the Ja 1. Then, after Morant was issued a 25-game suspension in June following another social media incident, the brand made it clear it was standing by him.
“We are pleased that Ja is taking accountability and prioritizing his well-being. We will continue to support him on and off the court,” Nike said in a June ’23 statement.
The Ja 1 ended up having a longer-than-usual shelf life for a signature sneaker, lasting from April ’23 to the Ja 2’s September ’24 launch.
The upcoming Nike Ja 3 is currently scheduled to be released July 22 for a retail price of $130. The debut “NY vs. NY” style has a full colorway of “Black/Neon Yellow/Total Orange/Bright Crimson/Mint Foam/Anthracite” and a SKU of IM0464-001.
