You can never go wrong with a gum sole, but up to this point in the lifespan of the Zoom Vomero 5, Nike hasn’t opted to pin the skate-minded design on the legacy model. Instead, most of the colorways you’ll spot on city streets tend towards a chromed-out aesthetic, in-line with the silhouette’s dawn-of-the-decade history. However, with the Vomero 5 a lock to remain one of Beaverton’s most popular offerings into 2025, a run of design experimentation brings the earthy touch to the shoe for the first time.
As promised, the outsole underfoot takes on the matte earth tone so commonly associated with on skate shoes. Inherently emphasizing that detail is an all-black upper, consolidating the Vomero 5’s typical layered look, yet brightening things up with a shot of off-white tonality on the branding notes at the quarter and heel. While it may be a novel development, the gum sole aligns with the muted, lifestyle fare we’ve come to expect from the runner, perhaps a sign that this could become a frequent sight in the new year.
Look for the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 in black and gum to hit shelves in Spring 2025, retailing for the model’s typical $170 MSRP.
