Novak Djokovic loves a Parisian summer. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has picked up three titles in the French capital in 2016, 2021 and 2023, sharing the third-highest haul in Roland Garros history.
A record-breaker for the books, Novak Djokovic boasts the most Grand Slams of any player in the sport; the last man standing in a lost era of tennis that will be forever accentuated by the Swiss style of Federer, the pure power and entertainment of Nadal, and the Serbian’s unrivalled trophy haul – yet one title remained an elusive target still to conquer.
On the iconic clay courts of Paris, Novak Djokovic produced a masterclass against his emerging Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz to claim a famous Olympic victory; one that would forever cement the Serbian’s enduring legacy in the sport as the first player to win every major title available.
“It’s the highlight of my career, what I experienced in Paris last year,” Novak Djokovic told a group of media, including DMARGE. “I’ve been lucky enough to achieve great things in this sport, but winning a gold medal for Serbia at age 37, that was probably the last and best chance that I had to go for the gold.”

In a career that spanned more than two decades, Djokovic truly stands alone as the only player to win every significant title in the sport – 24 Grand Slam trophies, multiple ATP Finals, all Masters 1000 events and Davis Cup glory – and the former World No. 1’s journey to the podium in Paris 2024 represented the crowning achievement after years of dominance across tennis’s most prestigious courts.
“It happened in almost kind of a movie like scenario for me, really. Having my wife and my kids with me and there was an incredible support and atmosphere. A lot of the Serbian Olympic team athletes were there present as well for the matches and finals. So the celebration was unlike any other celebration from any of my achievements before it lasted for days – maybe weeks,” Djokovic continued.
“We are individual athletes. So of course, we represent also our countries whenever we are competing at the individual tournaments. But just, you know, Olympic Games are unlike any other sports event. It’s the most important and historic sports event that happens every four years. So the opportunity is very rare. It was just a wonderful fairy tale.”
