We are incredibly disheartened by the tragedy that has taken place in Los Angeles this year. There are so many families that have experienced immense loss and our hearts go out to them. My family has been a longtime fan of visiting LA for family-friendly trips and while they are working to build up the community, there are still so many amazing parts of town that are safe and have the best things to do and see. It’s the city of angels and there is still so much magic even among the loss.
As you all know, we have had some fantastic trips with Visit California and always look forward to heading back to Cali. With Spring Break coming up, we wanted to share the best places for first-time visitors looking for the best time for your next trip to Los Angeles.
Firstly, for anyone into art and beautiful architecture, the Getty is a must-see. The museum has an amazing collection, plus the gardens and views of LA from the hilltop are beautiful. It’s a really fantastic spot to take in some culture. It’s also a place you can bring kids, which does not come easily, especially when traveling.
Universal Studios Hollywood is an entertainment destination that brings together a working film studio with the most exciting theme park. Bring your family and experience world-class attractions like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World – The Ride, and the iconic Studio Tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood movie magic. Beyond the rides, the Universal CityWalk branches off it and offers vibrant dining, shopping, and entertainment for a full day of fun.
Every time we go to LA, we have to stay here! Not only is it the most iconic hotel around, but it’s so stunning and has the best attractions and amenities. It’s just such a luxurious and timeless experience in the heart of Hollywood glamour. With its well known architecture, lush gardens, and fantastic service, the hotel has been a favorite of celebrities since the early 19002. You can enjoy fine dining at the Polo Lounge, unwind at the serene poolside, and soak in the rich history of this legendary landmark. We bring the kids here, too so you can make it a more family-friendly experience!
You know how much we love a great view! You get an incredible view of LA and even the famous Hollywood sign. It’s a great spot for photos, and if you’re into hiking, the trails around the area offer a nice workout with a stellar view. Our kids love to be outside and while we love doing things like seeing the Hollywood Walk of Fame, enjoying shopping on Rodeo Drive and resting at the beach in coastal areas, the activities that get us up and going are top priority for us. The city of Los Angeles is truly so beautiful and this is a great option for the best views in la-la land.
Santa Monica Pier/Venice Beach
While we wait for summer to be beach bums, we are looking to get our sunny fix in LA! Santa Monica Pier has the iconic Ferris wheel, and the beach is perfect for relaxing or riding bikes along the coast. Just south, Venice Beach offers a more eclectic vibe with street performers, Muscle Beach, and funky shops. There are so many different neighborhoods to explore, but the best way to relax on a trip is to have a long beach day just walking distance from so much to do. We find it to be the perfect day spent.
Downtown LA Arts District
This area has a very cool, creative vibe with street art murals, galleries, and unique restaurants and coffee spots. If you’re into art, you’ll definitely appreciate the vibe. Plus, it’s close to other attractions like the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Broad Museum if you want to get even more artsy.
Finally, if you haven’t been to LA, I’m sure you’ve heard of The Grove! It’s a really fun area with shops, restaurants, and often live entertainment. It’s one of the most popular spots to be in Los Angeles area and with things to enjoy like fine dining, shopping and even Hollywood stars sightings, you need to check it out. Being amongst one of the most popular attractions, it just might be the happiest place around. They actually have a Farmers Market right next door that is full of great food stands, offering a lot of tasty variety. It’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon.
