No matter how you slice it, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 is one of the hottest sneakers of the moment. General release colorways have been hard to cop at retail, and collaborations have unsurprisingly been just as sought-after, with a range of actors steadily influencing the prized tech-runner.
Now Brazilian designer Pedro Andrade, one of the fastest rising names in fashion, is next in line. Founder of Piet International and his eponymous label P Andrade, he’s known in some circles by gorpcore-adjacent collaborations with Brazilian footwear brand Rider in addition to fashion-forward yet utilitarian clothing and apparel.
The inaugural P Andrade x ASICS collaboration speaks to Andrade’s past works to a tee, communicating a futuristic, almost reptilian-like vibe. While Andrade hasn’t spoken on the project yet, it’s not a huge stretch to say the shoes might be inspired by iguanas and other big lizards that roam his home country. The ensemble of green and blue shades serves that narrative, as does the diamond-grid pattern on the base, which somewhat mimics the look of scales. Not without special branding, text reading “P_A” replaces the GEL-Kayano 14 logo on the lateral side of the right shoe.
We’re still waiting on both parties to unveil release information, but know that our Sneaker Release Dates page will be kept up-to-date with all the latest details as they come in.
