Reebok is celebrated primarily for its retro basketball, tennis, and lifestyle cuts, but the English brand has also maintained a vast lineup of futuristic tech-runners since the early 2000s.
In 2020, current footwear trends spawned the return of the long-defunct Premier Road line on a newly revised model; the Premier Road Modern. The line hasn’t invaded mainstream consciousness like other Y2K revivals like the New Balance 1906R among other 2000s-inspired cuts, but deep within the “gorpcore” niche, Reebok is doing just fine. Diving further into the trend, the English brand is set to continue the Premier Road series with the introduction of yet another new cut; the Premier Road Ultra.
The shoe features the same sole as the Premier Road Modern, but the upper is completely different. Gone is the TPU cage and detailing, replaced by a more traditional mix of mesh, leather, and synthetics. The Ultra communicates a far more “retro” aesthetic for all intents and purposes, a sign of consumer favorability towards busy tooling over sleek, modern treatments.
Sneakerheads should expect to see several colorways surface upon the model’s debut, but this initial pair revolves around an official “Soft Pink/Grey” palette. Blue and tan accents, however, comprise a lively arrangement with an emphasis on muted shades.
Retailers are teeing up to release the Premier Road Modern in late June, but no firm Reebok.com drop date has been floated at the time of this writing. Our Sneaker Release Dates page will be kept current with all the latest info as we learn more.
