Robbie Williams has delivered a series of intriguing looks while promoting ‘Better Man,’ but he truly outdid himself at the Paris premiere at Le Grand Rex on Friday. Stepping out in a Dolce & Gabbana long-haired shearling coat, Robbie reminded us all why he remains one of pop’s most flamboyant personalities.
Since method dressing seems to be this weekend’s theme, courtesy of Timothée Chalamet, one can’t help but wonder: was Robbie giving a nod to the CGI chimpanzee who portrays him in the biopic? It’s a theory as wild as the coat itself, but also oddly fitting.
Whether intentional or not, this gamble paid off. The coat works not just because it’s extravagant, but because it perfectly matches Robbie’s larger-than-life persona. It takes a certain charisma to make a statement like this, and Robbie Williams is exactly that guy.
The long-haired shearling is as much about comfort as it is about style. Styled with shades and Dolce & Gabbana City Trek Derby shoes, he looked every inch the frontman. It’s unapologetically bold, a bit tongue-in-cheek, and undeniably Robbie.
This look could have veered into costume territory on someone else, but Robbie has that rare ability to toe the line between daring and ridiculous. It’s theatrical, it’s confident, and it’s totally in tune with the personality of a man who’s never been afraid to take risks.
