Saoirse Ronan champions sustainable fashion at ‘The Outrun’ screening

Saoirse Ronan Wore Hodakova To 'The Outrun' New York Screening

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan graced the Sony Pictures Classics & The Cinema Society screening of her latest film, ‘The Outrun’, at Crosby Street Hotel on Monday evening. True to her penchant for fashion that makes a statement, Saoirse opted for a unique piece from Hodakova’s Fall 2024 collection.

Unlike Cate Blanchett’s previous cutlery-based looks by Hodakova, Saoirse’s ensemble wasn’t quite as avant-garde in its material. Dubbed the ‘Inside Out Waxed Jacket Dress’ her dress was exactly that—crafted from a waxed jacket. What I particularly loved about this look was the thoughtful reconstruction. The inside-out jacket design was transformed into a halter dress, with a silk collar and wrap silhouette that softened the original utilitarian nature of the piece.

Admittedly, I can see where the details might divide opinions. The unusual use of the corduroy collar, and the otherwise rugged fabric, could be a dealbreaker for some. Yet, for me, it’s precisely this juxtaposition that elevates the look. It captures Ellen Hodakova Larsson’s dedication to sustainable fashion in an authentic and refreshing way, which, in a world that often overindulges in glamour, feels like a bold move. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about making a point.

Saoirse Ronan’s look here is the epitome of eco-conscious fashion meeting high-style aesthetics. It’s a creative, bold choice that fits well with the ongoing narrative around sustainability in the industry. Instead of merely wearing a dress, Saoirse wears a conversation—one that speaks to the importance of giving a second life to clothing. It’s not an easy look to pull off, but in her typical fashion, Saoirse does it with grace and conviction, pushing the envelope just far enough to make a memorable impact.
