The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a cause very cause to my heart, as I have had close loved ones diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years ago, I had the amazing honor of being an ambassador to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to be an ally to all the victims, survivors, and family members effected by this disease. Finding a cure is an ongoing effort. Did you know there are stores and businesses that donate to breast cancer research?
These fundraisers bring us a step closer to a cure with each dollar. We won’t stop until we find a cure! It’s an amazing cause to support, so I’ve pulled a few of my favorite items with proceeds that go towards breast cancer research. A lot of my favorite brands are donating net proceeds to the Susan G. Komen foundation and BCRF-funded researchers to find a cure. Check out these great products that donate to a worthy cause this month.
Cancer Information
Firstly, breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer. It’s so important to stay informed and keep up with consistent screenings and appointments. Staying on top of your own health is incredibly important, but giving your philanthropic support to make a meaningful difference and aid in breakthrough research is also something you should consider. Moreover, if you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of brands that have special collections with donations to community partners and non-profit organization that help with funding research for this type of cancer.
Show Your Support
One way to help support the National Breast Cancer Foundation is to participate in a race! The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® is an education and fundraising event for breast cancer. The series of 5K runs and fitness walks raises significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement. They celebrate breast cancer survivors and honors that who have lost their battle with the disease. It’s a good cause and American women get educated on things like early detection, quality treatment and cancer care.
Buy A Headband
Let’s get to the shopping! Finding the perfect gift that gives back is something I’m always happy to donate to. Headbands are kinda my thing, and Lele Sadoughi headbands are at the top of my favorites list! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 10% of all proceeds from their Pink Crystal Knotted Headband will be donated to the BCRF. They perform life-saving research to someday be able to cure breast cancer. The support is important for some of the most critical needs. The best part is all of the women who have been helped by research projects, donations from a portion of the sales and emotional support during the entire month of October. Bake It Happen
Finally, this fantastic campaign was started by my friend, Shari, of My Judy The Foodie and her sister, Stacy. Together, they founded Bake It Happen as a way to raise awareness of and find a cure for Metastatic Breast Cancer, or MBC. Unfortunately, they lost their mother Judy to the disease, and they wanted to find a way to honor her and help save other families from the pain of losing a family member to this terrible illness. Furthermore, a direct donation is involved for this annual campaign.
However, they do showcase ALL of the recipes from their past campaigns so that you may also bake and enjoy all year long! You can even go back and look at last year to see the recipes in honor of a breast cancer campaign. This year’s campaign is in memory of their partner Dr. Rebecca Timlin-Scalera. 100% of all proceeds are being matched and they are being used to fund critical Metastatic Breast Cancer research.
