Jason and I make it a point to have date nights and what is better than date nights in the summer? We like to try new classes and hobbies on top of a great dinner. The perfect time is now and I’m here to help you plan a romantic night. My ideal date would include live music, a salsa dance class or drive-in movie. You don’t have to go out to have a date night, especially if you don’t want to leave the kids. You can absolutely plan a date night in and still have some great quality time together! If you’re looking for some fun summer date ideas, keep reading to plan your next date!
Cooking Class
Firstly, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach! Cooking classes are a way to try out new recipes to add into your meal rotation and also new meals you might’ve never had in general. And I find that cooking together is incredibly romantic. You learn a new skill and have a little summer romance at the same time! These are usually indoors, too so it’s great hot weather date ideas because it keeps you out of outdoor spaces and in air conditioning. We love Taste Buds Kitchen in the city.
Movie
Secondly, there are several ways you can go about this. Try a drive-in movie because it’s the perfect season. Find your local drive-in spot and pack your car full of comfy blankets, pillows and snacks. Moreover, you can always opt for regular date nights at the movie theater and switch off picking the movie. If you want to stay in, there are tons of streaming services that offer every movie in existence. The only difficult thing is to actually pick one! With the arrival of summer, we have spent so much time outside that sitting and watching a movie actually sounds like a great summer evening. Bonus points if you have a projector to bring outside in the backyard!
Outdoor Concerts
Jason and I love festivals and concerts. We stay on top of artists and bands we enjoy and follow their tour schedules. These are also great for double dates or bringing a couple friends with you to make it a group activity and everyone can have a date night together.
Food Tours
Foodies, this one is for you! Every large city has a bunch of food tours to choose from and it can take you out of your comfort zone. Try new foods and local restaurants all in one sunny day. Who knows, you may even find your new favorite date night spot through this! It’s good times and full stomachs that make for the best things.
Picnic
On the food topic, I find picnics to be incredibly romantic. I have quite a few posts on the blog and my Instagram full of recipe ideas. Here is a recent picnic recipe post I’ve put together full of easy bites to make. You can do this at a park or even in the back yard as long as you have time to spend together.
Sports Game
Sports games are really fun to attend and while they make for great family activities, they also are a warm weather date option. Baseball comes to my mind first and with it being in season, it’s a great way to spend time together and enjoy something he might really like. Show interest in each other’s hobbies, it’s one of the key pieces to a great relationship. If you want to try to get US Open tickets, that would be a prime date spot!
Wine Tasting
I’m always on the lookout for a new bottle of wine to try. Wine tastings are the perfect way to get introduced to new wine options as well as learn about pairings. Half of the battle is the pairings and knowing which food and bites go best with the bottle.
Romantic Bike Ride
Finally, I can’t help but want to include a quiet and romantic bike ride. If you are near a beach this summer, that’s even better! This is great to do on the way to a picnic, which you can also have on the beach. It’s like a romantic stroll but on a bike instead!
