Community outreach remains a significant focus for adidas, and with the brand continuing to keep sport at the center of their operations, the goal of non-profit The Hidden Opponent perfectly overlays onto those two missions. Founded with a particular niche in advocating for mental health in student-athletes, the Victoria Garrick Browne-founded venture has been in the Three Stripes’ roster of partners for some time but is stepping into footwear for the first team via takes on the adidas Ultraboost 1.0 and select performance wear.
Initially entering the German giant’s oeuvre with a subtly branded hoodie, the advocacy group pints their signature lime green next to soothing cream notes on the Ultraboost. Alongside those top notes, they lend a subtle floral print across the Three Stripes branding while pinning the core tenets of The Hidden Opponent on the tongue tag: “Get Outside,” “Communicate,” and “Be A Teammate.”
While the Ultraboost’s overall profile makes this the crown jewel, note that the Adizero Impact Turf and Adizero Impact TPU also enter the collection, fitting bits of baseball and gridiron performance wear given the organization’s mission. Many of the same touches graft over onto those models, either closing out with deep beige midsoles.
Zooming out in terms of adidas strategy, this continues a noticeable push in recent months for the Ultraboost 1.0. The groundbreaking model rose to prominence again with the release of the OG for its 10th anniversary and redoubled its emergence via the adidas Fortnite collection.
The Hidden Opponent x adidas Ultraboost 1.0 is available now via the brand’s site, retailing for $190. The Adizero Impact TPU and Impact Turf are also up for grabs, retailing at $100 and $95, respectively.
