Timothée Chalamet turned heads at the BFI Southbank this evening—not just for his role in A Complete Unknown but for his unconventional entrance on a Lime bike. Joining co-star Monica Barbaro, the actor made a statement before even stepping onto the red carpet.
Typically, when Timothée is in London, McQueen is his go-to. However, for this premiere, he pivoted to a custom look by Martine Rose, a designer celebrated for blending her Jamaican-British heritage into her creations. The standout piece was a colourful printed shirt inspired by Rose’s Spring 2025 collection, paired with a relaxed-fit suit that felt refreshingly elevated compared to Timothée’s usual skinny-fit style.
So, where’s the Bob Dylan nod?
Unlike the New York premiere, where the Dylan homage was a bit too on-the-nose, this look embraced a more understated approach. The print on Timothée’s shirt draws subtle inspiration from a shirt Dylan wore in 1964 and on his 1965 Highway 61 Revisited album cover. It’s a clever, nuanced tribute that lands perfectly—proof that subtlety often speaks louder than overt references.
Cartier jewels and a snake skin belt rounded out his ensemble.
I’m glad to see Timothée is once again showing us why he’s the king of sartorial storytelling—effortlessly merging fashion, character, and context in a way only he can.
