There’s something about a fall trip that is just so exciting for this time of year. We have a few autumn getaway options we’re planning out and I realized we needed a revamp on our gear. The most important thing to me is that we stay organized for any fall vacation or weekend trip. Whether we are getting on a plane or taking a road trip, I like to pack in style for any fall weekend getaway. As a mom, I’m packing for my entire family. We’re getting organized for the year to travel in a way that fits everything we need and keeps us organized, no matter where we go. These are our favorite fall travel pieces!
Luggage Essentials
Firstly, for those going on long-haul flights, international travel, etc. you have to have everything sorted to pack. This past year, we traveled all over the world and having everything in my carry-on bag rather than suitcase was a life saver. Especially having kids, I always need to be prepared.
Take a look at the destinations you’ll be gong to and how long you need to go for. From here, you can determine what type of luggage you’ll need. Definitely take weather conditions and outdoor activities into consideration for this because items can take up more space depending on what your plans are. Carry on bags, large suitcases, medium suitcases and duffle bags tend to be the gear options we pick from. If you have a fall travel capsule wardrobe, you an go for a smaller bag because those items won’t take up too much space in your travels or hotel room. Always leave room for comfortable shoes, no matter where you are going for your fall getaway.
Toiletry Bags
Secondly, I recommend keeping everything organized in their own type of bags. Toiletry bags are the lifeline of all of our precious cargo. They hold all of our liquids, beauty products, messy makeup and even jewelry if we want. It’s a little thing we don’t always think about until the last minute sometimes, but a toiletry bag is one of the most important travel essentials.
The biggest factor when choosing one is to make sure it is water resistant. Anything that spills in it needs to stay inside, so it doesn’t destroy your belongings during travel. These come in so many different sizes and different colors, so it’s a good idea to grab a high quality bag and just have fun with it! With cooler temperatures, we tend to pack less in these bags for the fall season, but with fall weather comes rain. And personally, I need more hair care options to combat unpredictable weather for upcoming trips. Limit yourself to one large toiletry bag and one smaller option to pack light while ensuring you have key pieces you need for your next getaway.
Packing Cubes
Finally, one top tip I have for a fall packing list is to get your hands on packing cubes. They are a huge organizational trick. For example, I like to pack entire outfits together so I know what I’m wearing once I get to my destination. They’re also a great way to keep undergarments and socks all in one place. Make up your packing list and then sort everything by cubes, it’s the most convenient way to pack, I’ve found! They fold up and are very easy to store and the ease of use for your trip is well worth it. I’d have to say it’s one of the best travel items ever created. There are a ton of affordable options, as well. You’d be surprised how many oversized sweater options you can fit for various activities in these cubes.
Fall destinations tend to require base layers, so once you make your packing guide, you can then determine the core items that will come along with you for colder months and which size packing cubes will be a great place to start in your packing journey.
