What Plus-Size People Actually Wore To New York Fashion Week

The fashion industry can be daunting, especially for someone who wears plus sizes. Finding clothing that is on par with the occasion of New York Fashion Week may be more difficult, but not impossible. The plus size fashionistas proved this to be true as they stepped out for fashion week! Here is what caught my eye!

Day One of New York Fashion Week

I was so energized by the Adore Me show! The sea of red was incredible, and the confidence was contagious. When I asked some attendees about their outfits, I heard a mix of Zara, Eloquii, Amazon, Anthropologie, and some seriously impressive thrift store hauls. It was exactly the dose of fashion inspiration I needed. There were also tons of plus size fashionistas wearing Adore Me, which offers sizes up to 4X.

Day Two of New York Fashion Week

The next morning, I previewed Jovani‘s latest collection— a brand synonymous with stunning formal gowns. While there, I spotted celebrity stylist Esther Lamour. She looked absolutely beautiful in a custom Versace blazer, a black tulle dress from Akira, and Zara shoes.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Jovani’s designer, Julie DuRocher. She gave me a behind-the-scenes look at the fabrics they use for their plus-size gowns, taking me to a separate floor of Jovani Fashion. The gowns were not only beautiful and fashionable but also inclusive.

Friday’s lifestyle event with The Modern Day Wife was a great experience, and I especially enjoyed meeting Liz Sloan. She was stunning in a black and white dress from YOZY, perfectly styled with a Coach bag, Showitty tights, and VIVAIA shoes

Day Three of New York Fashion Week

I rounded out my New York Fashion Week with MEFEATER Magazine! The fashion show was a memorable one, thanks in part to Armiel Chandler. His blue outfit was a showstopper. I was able to chat with him, and he mentioned Eloquii, ASOS, Dia & Co., and Shop Berries as some of his favorite places to shop at the moment.

I also spoke with Taryn Janae, who was serving up serious New York Fashion Week vibes. She revealed she’s been loving SHEIN for her plus-size fashion finds. Kara Johnson (freelance writer and social media manager for The Curvy Fashionista) and I also enjoyed the opportunity to dress for the occasion.

New York Fashion Week is a marathon, not a sprint, and my wardrobe needed to keep up! For me, that meant power suits, power suits, and more power suits. Eloquii is my absolute go-to for these. I selected a delicate lace suit, a sequin number, and a bedazzled burgundy silk suit. I also slipped in a classic navy blue pinstripe suit from Lane Bryant.

Knowing I wanted a dress for one of the days, I hunted down the perfect piece on ASOS. I found a stunning rose-colored maxi dress that screamed New York Fashion Week girlboss but was also versatile enough for multiple wearings beyond the runway.

Shoes are essential during a week like this. With all the walking, comfort is key, but style can’t be sacrificed. I went for my Dolce Vita Arya Wide Calf Boots. They’re not only incredibly comfortable but also a godsend for anyone needing wider calf options.

Kara’s outfit was styled perfectly! She rocked an Eloquii top, a Target skirt, Honenna Home stockings, and an Amazon tie and hat. Her thrifted blazer was the perfect finishing touch. Quay Australia glasses, Shoedazzle shoes, and unique necklaces from a street vendor completed her look. This fashion week truly belonged to the stylish plus-size community, proving that fashion is for everyone.
